Gold-Plated Sterling Silver

Marchina jewelry is handmade using sterling silver .925 and finished with a layer of 18k gold plating. Each piece is crafted with care, and designed to be treasured. To preserve its beauty over time, please follow these care guidelines:

  • Store in it's original pouch to prevent scratches and tangling.
  • Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, cleaning products, and  pool as they may wear down the gold finish or cause discoloration.
  • Put your jewelry on last, after makeup, perfume, and hair products. This reduces exposure to chemicals.
  • Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising to protect the plating from fading or damage.
  • Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid silver polishing cloths, as they can strip away the gold layer.

Gold plating is a refined surface and may fade with time and wear. This is natural and part of its charm—but with care, your piece will keep its golden glow for longer.

Care Instructions — Sterling Silver

Marchina pieces are made in .925 sterling silver to preserve its glow and detail, we recommend the following care:

  • Store it dry, and alone. Keep it in your original Marchina pouch or box, away from humidity and other metals.
  • Clean it gently. Use your Marchina polishing cloth (or a silver polishing cloth you have) to restore shine and remove tarnish. 
  • Avoid water and chemicals. Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, or applying perfumes and lotions to avoid tarnish quicker.
  • Tarnish is normal. If your piece darkens, don’t worry it can be cleaned easily and safely with your polishing cloth, or mix a small bowl of lukewarm water with a few drops of mild, fragrance-free dish soap, dip a soft cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush into the solution and gently clean the silver, avoiding any delicate stones or gold plating (unless the entire piece is plain silver). Rinse thoroughly under the water, and pat dry with a soft cloth. Once it's fully dry use your Marchina polishing cloth to restore the shine.
